Walter B. Stephen
American, (1875–1961)
Walter B. Stephen first began working in ceramics with his mother in Tennessee at the family owned pottery, Nonconnah, in 1904. When his mother and father died, Stephen moved to North Carolina and continued Nonconnah from 1913 to 1918. In 1926 he began Pisgah Forest Pottery which remained open past his death in 1961. From 1953 until 1961, Stephen also started making pottery under his own name, Stephen, and under another studio name, Lone Pine Pottery.
