BIOGRAPHY

Porge Buck (1931- ) is a painter and printmaker. As an etcher, she concentrates on mezzotints, aquatints and itaglios. She prefers the print process as it is indirect, involving craft in equal measure to artistry. According to Buck: "I have never considered printmaking as a career, but as a thread through my life; thinner and more dense, depending upon circumstance. Further, the idea that prints must be produced with the market ever in mind is quite foreign to me. As a watcher of the passing parade, I am alert to the quirks and peculiarities of the marchers. As a result, my prints reflect a tradition of curious subject matter, at once commonplace and personal. They fall loosely into three categories :interiors and structures; contemporary relics; flights of fancy. [Source: Unknown and currently being researched.]
