BIOGRAPHY

Anne Lemanski studied at Michigan State University in Lansing, MI, and the Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy. She earned a BFA from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI, 1992.

Lemanski is a former resident artist for both Penland School of Crafts in Penland, North Carolina, and Ox-Bow Summer School of Art in Saugatuck, Michigan. Now living in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, her studio is constructed from recycled shipping containers.

Lemanski's work is in many private collections and the permanent collection of the Asheville Art Museum in Asheville, North Carolina, and the U.S. Department of State, Art in Embassies collection, Karachi, Pakistan. She is the recipient of the 2010 North Carolina Arts Council Grant, and was recently nominated for a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant. Her politically charged statements cloak complex three-dimensional sculptural constructions.
