Marianne Preger-Simon
American, b. 1929
Marianne Preger, later Preger-Simon, came to Black Mountain College in the summer of 1953. She was a dancer working with Merce Cunningham who was teaching at the school that summer. She later taught dance, drama and literature at a private progressive school. She wrote dance criticism for the ""Village Voice."" She was a singer and guitar player before becoming a doctoral student in Psychological Education at the University of Massachusetts. After school she became a counselor and with her adult daughter began leading mother-daughter workshops. She published a mother/daughter anthology, entitled ""Heart By Heart: Mothers and Daughters Listening to Each Other.""
