Ed Ruscha

"Edward Ruscha (1937- ) was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on December 16, 1937. He moved with his family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1942 and to Los Angeles in 1955. Ruscha applied at the Art Center School, but since the institution had no space for additional students he enrolled in the Chouinard Art Institute. At Chouinard he studied under Richards Ruben and painted in an abstract expressionist style that was influenced by the work of Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline.
