BIOGRAPHY

Randy Shull lives and works in Asheville, North Carolina and Merida, Mexico. He received his BFA in 1986 from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

From 1987 – 1991 he was artist-in-residence and an instructor at Penland School of Craft in Penland, NC. In 1994 Shull was awarded a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship and in 1995, a National Endowment for the Arts Southern Arts Federation grant. He has also had a master residency at Oregon School of Arts & Crafts in Portland and has had four solo shows in New York City in the past ten years.

Shull’s sculptural works incorporate and celebrate art, craft, architecture and design. He is known for his rich and bold use of color. Threshold/Arbor, now on view in the Elemental Arts, invites the viewer to step into the work and is an effective and compelling example of the artist’s creativity.

Randy Schull’s work is included in a number of museum including the Asheville Art Museum; The Brooklyn Museum; The High Museum in Atlanta; The Renwick Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C.; The Mint Museum of Craft & Design in Charlotte, and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.
