Dynasty
© Lorrie Goulet / Licensced by VAGA at Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York
Goulet attended Black Mountain College for the 1943–1944 academic year and the 1944 Summer Art Institute. Already versed in clay and ceramics upon her arrival, she studied weaving with Anni Albers and painting and drawing with Josef Albers, though she became best known for her work in carved stone and wood. Dynasty displays an eye towards color and form reminiscent of the assignments given by Josef Albers, revealing the lasting influence of his teachings. While at Black Mountain College, Goulet met her future spouse, faculty member José de Creeft, who was also a sculptor.
