Description

Lorna Blaine Halper, "Postcard of a pendant from the Met to Lorna Blaine Halper". Circa 1945. Postcard photo of a mermaid pendant. An embellished woman with a tail that has four pearl hanging down from her. The woman is in gold with a chain that links the body. Above her head another pearl. Verso: Top right corner is a green President Washington one cent stamp. A drawing composed of patterned dots is on the left side of the envelope. Image is a pendant in the form of a mermaid, gold with precious stones. 16th (XVI) Century, Italian. The postcard came from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Collotype by Max Jaffe, Vienna, Austria.
