Description

Red biomorphic head with two eyes. The base sits on an outstretched neck. Some spots of gray in the glass all over. The biomorphic head appears like a creature from popular media such as Fraggle Rock and Pokémon. This form is of a limited edition of four with this one being an artist's proof.

Forms of Consciousness [FOC] series (1994-2004) is described by the artist as the development of pour casting, mold techniques, and glass formulae to create large scale work representing psychological conditions.

Peiser’s career neatly divides into several series. A master of glass chemistry and innovations in the studio process, each of his series continues, as Peiser would say, his “dance with glass.” The Forms of Consciousness series illustrates Peiser’s explorations into the use of molds. The flat finish of Passing Thought was achieved by treating the pâte de verre glass, or glass paste, with acid after removing it from the mold—giving the artwork a density in its appearance to match its title.
