Label History

Arkansas-based artist Horn is one of the most well-known wood sculptors of her generation. Informed by both Cubism in her use of geometry and Abstract Expressionism in her gestural forms, the Millstone series focuses on the eponymous fractured tool, drawing the viewer’s attention to the poetic beauty within the broken or unusable. Utilizing our assumptions about the presumed heaviness of a millstone, Horn provocatively balances the sculpture on its side.
