Sister Resister
© Keltie Ferris, courtesy of the artist and Mitchell-Innes & Nash, New York
A clothed torso in yellow and gold emerges from the purple background of Sister Resister. The shape was made when the artist imprinted his own body onto the paper while wearing his studio work clothes, rendering a unique print and a variation on the traditional self-portrait. Ferris created this work in response to the Women’s Marches that began in 2017. The title suggests action for positive change, specifically encouraging community and working together.
