Prologue
The exterior of the Frome farm-house….. near Starkfield, a small farming community, in Northern New England, Winter.
ACT ONE
Scene One
The kitchen of the Frome farm-house. Spring. Twenty years earlier.
Scene Two
Outside the vestry of the Starkfield Congregational Church. The following winter. Evening.
Scene Three
The crest of a hill above Starkfield- a few minutes later.
Scene Four
The exterior of the Frome farm-house- a few minutes later.

ACT TWO
Scene One
The Frome bedroom. Five-thirty the following morning.
Scene Two
The kitchen- immediately following the preceding scene.
Scene Three
The kitchen. That evening.
ACT THREE
Scene One
The bedroom. The next evening.
Scene Two
The kitchen- the following afternoon.
Scene Three
The crest of the hill. Half an hour later.
Epilogue
The kitchen- twenty years later. The same evening as that of the Prologue.
The settings were designed by Anatole Kopp and created by him and his students in Stage Technique: Jane Slater, Aurora Cassotta and Bruno Piscitello.
